Winter Beer Blast [Warren, RI]
by RYAN CALDARONE
January 16 was the the RI Winter Beer Blast of 2016, housed in Warren's Artillery Armory. It's always nice to have such a lively gathering hosted here in our hometown. Federal Hill Pizza in part, sponsored the event and had deliciously thick slices available for everyone who walked in (not to mention a generous promotion if you had a meal at their Main Street location after the event). Of course, we were able to sample a plentiful arrangement of beers and stouts, as well as strike up some informative conversations with some local Rhode Island brewers (so expect some brewery tours from us later in the year).
There was an impressive selection of dark smokey winter lagers, which went great with the approaching cold snap now that southern New England is beginning its winter season. Smoked in a different flavor, we picked up a bottle of "beer" for our dogs courtesy of Woof Woof, a Bristol boutique pet store. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere, kicked up a notch by some live music. For the smallest state in the union, Rhode Island is filled with an abundance of community focused business, and events like the Winter Beer Blast showcase the mutual love for our neighbors. I'm certain everyone who bought a ticket went home with a favorite new brew to look forward to this winter as we all prepare for a couple of months worth of snow. The Rhode Island Winter Beer Blast has proved to be a fantastic annual gathering... can't wait 'till next year!
