A Trip to the Zoo [Providence, RI]
by RYAN CALDARONE
The Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island is a local destination that has a decent variety of wildlife, very close to our homes. On a whim, we decided to take advantage of a 50% off day! While we love visiting Zoos and Aquariums, we weren't used to that type of outdoor event on an off season. Mainly, the amount of mud was surprising (not all of us wore boots).
It was a fantastic day, in the mid 50s which is sort of lucky for February. None of the animals seemed to mind the mud at all, and most were out and about for the Zoo patrons. The Roger Williams Park Zoo staff is always very helpful and informative, and there's always plenty of information on each of the exhibits. While the food stands and ice cream parlour isn't open year round, we still had plenty of fun walking through the park.
Cute fluffy animals (and even the not so fluffy ones) are totally worth a mid day trip to the local zoo; and if you can snag a discounted off-season entry ticket, all the better!
